Boneheaded Government
Who needs public transportation for iFest? METRORail closes on a huge downtownweekend
It's a big weekend in Houston, with iFest taking over downtown, Cats at Miller Outdoor Theatre and all the usual hustle and bustle that dominates the city from downtown to the medical center.
So, it's odd to me that the transit authority chose this weekend to close the METRORail. Sure, it reduces the chance of those bus-train collisions, but it also presents a huge inconvenience for everyone trying to get to Houston's main attractions. Why this weekend with iFest already closing many streets to car traffic? Do people in city government ever talk to each other?
Service is shut down to make way for the construction of a bridge at Texas Children's Hospital. Although all the rail stations are closing tonight at 8 p.m. (to re-open at 2 p.m. Sunday), buses will be running along the rail.
I'll just pay to park.
