Mysterious body pulled from Discovery Green lake; cause of death under investigation
Park-goers at Discovery Green stumbled upon a unsettling scene Easter morning as the body of a man floated across the surface of Kinder Lake — the man-made water feature known mainly for its ice skaters in the winter and kayak rides and model-boat rentals the rest of the year.
John Cannon with the Houston Police Department tells CultureMap that an HPD dive team pulled the remains of an unidentified male from the lake around 9 a.m. on Sunday.
The park was closed during the investigation, but was reopened to the public later in the day.
Officers at the scene told KHOU Ch. 11 that no immediate signs of foul play were visible. An autopsy is underway at Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences to verify the man's identity and cause of death.
Anyone with information is urged to contact HPD's Homicide Division at 713-308-3600.
