Police search for stolen Silver Chevy
Rx for carjacking: One man shot in parking lot of Galleria-area CVS
The Galleria-area CVS on Westheimer at 610 saw gunfire Tuesday night after three suspects carjacked a silver Chevy HHR from a pair of unsuspecting men.
Just after 9 p.m., a Houston Police Department officer working an approved extra job in the area was flagged down by a woman coming from the pharmacy.
"On any night you will find very nasty people buying booze, cigarettes," reads a recent Google review. "Last time I just saw some prostitutes buying makeup!"
"At the scene, one man was shot in the hand and taken to the hospital," says HPD spokesperson Victor Senties. "The injury was not reported to be life-threatening."
KHOU-TV Ch. 11 reports that the two victims drove to the CVS parking lot to meet an old high school friend who was "down on his luck."
While they were waiting, three men pulled up in a white late-model Suburban. Hopping out of the large SUV, one of the men walked over to the HHR and pulled out a gun. When the two victims refused to leave the car, the gunman fired his weapon, striking the driver in the hand.
Both men promptly exited their vehicle as two of the three perpetrators drove off with the HHR. The third suspect followed closely behind in the Suburban.
After the incident, the shooting victim was taken to Ben Taub General Hospital and is in stable condition.
Nestled between tony River Oaks and the fashionable Galleria, the popular CVS has a surprisingly below-average reputation — at least according to Google reviewer Billy:
After 6:00PM on any night you will find very nasty people buying booze, cigarettes and last time I just saw some prostitutes buying makeup! I wouldn't dream of going to this store without a knife or gun in my pocket.
So, a knife or gun. . . keep that in mind the next time you need to fill a prescription.
Houston police are searching for the stolen 2007 Chevy HHR with Texas license plate number BN2 G923 and is asking anyone with information about the incident to contact Crime Stoppers.
