Friday night was a scene unlike what you would usually expect in the lobby of the Four Seasons Hotel downtown.
Double and triple-popped collars, puka-shell necklaces and '80s and early '90s garb abounded. (I had forgotten about jellies!) Revelers sipped not-so-sophisticatedly on Boones Farm, wine coolers and cans of Schlitz beer.
For once, when I pulled a Koozie out of my purse, I didn't feel out of place among finer company.
Attendees of the clever "Outdated Party" who were there to celebrate the lobby's impending remodel — and the occasional wandering hotel guest — snacked on sweet stuff and grooved to slow jams and old rap hits. I wonder whatever happened to Ja Rule?
The remodel is to be followed by an "Updated Party" in April. (No jellies allowed to this soiree, and I assume koozies will be frowned upon).
We can't wait.
