How Houston will weather the "hard freeze": Turn off the heat, it's getting cold
It's getting cold, so turn off your heater.
As predicted freezing temperatures descend on Houston once again Wednesday evening (we're currently under a hard freeze warning), we're being called upon to do the only thing that makes sense.
It might seem like a logical fallacy, but The Electric Reliability Council of Texas says that in order to avoid another round of rolling blackouts, we've got to conserve. That means lights off, heat down and lots of lounging in winter wear.
If you're one of the well-off Houstonians who just never bought a winter coat? May we suggest installing buttons onto your comforter, or perhaps donning double Snuggies, front-to-back.
Residents are encouraged to conserve energy between 4 to 8 p.m. and between 6 and 9 a.m. Basically, when you're awake and at home.
Get toasted Stay toasty, Houston.
And remember, you're one of the lucky ones. The homeless and poor among us who don't have heat are really the only people who should be complaining.
