Pretty as a picture 175 years later: Hit us with your best Houston photo, andwe'll make you famous
How much do you love Houston — past, present, or future? Well, we want you to show us, and we'll make you Houston-famous in return.
The Bayou City is having a year-long, 175th anniversary party, but it's not a shindig without the guests, now is it?
That's where you come in.
We want to see your best, most evocative photographs of what's made Houston such a special city. And if we like them, we want to put your photograph and your name in lights.
So what does that entail? The sky's the limit. Show us what you've seen — and loved — in Houston throughout the years. It can be a favorite place, a memorable event, anything significant, unique, personal or really special from the present or the past that explains what Houston means to you.
You can contribute digital photographs or scanned photographs, but under one condition — you must be the original photographer.
Get your entries to us via email at contest@culturemap.com by Jan. 16 at 9 a.m. Put "Houston@175 Photo Contest" in the subject line, and provide us with a little blurb about the shot, too.
After Jan. 16, we'll select the 10 best photos with their accompanying stories, and publish them in an exclusive photo essay celebrating Houston then and now.
If you're as excited as we are about Houston's birthday milestone, then we can't wait to see the scenes you send us.
Good luck!
