Symphony young professionals soar on the sounds of Idina Menzel to party wicked at Brenner's
Blue, the swinging patio bar, at Brenner's on the Bayou was packed with members of the Houston Symphony's Young Professionals Backstage Friday night when the group partied post-concert, having grooved earlier at Jones Hall to the sounds of Idina Menzel.
For the occasion, the Blue bartender concocted "wicked" green martinis, a liquid reference to Menzel's role of Elphaba in Wicked. That and other libations loosened inhibitions as the crowd danced into the wee hours to the sounds of DJ Ash. For late-night appetities, Brenner's put on a tasty spread that included bacon-wrapped quail breast, baby portabellos stuffed with crabmeat and cheese, tenderloin skewers and more.
A handful of symphony musicians, fresh from the concert, joined the party including Eric Larson, Matthew Strauss, Kiju Joh, Adam Dinitz and Brian Wilson.
YPB regulars making the musical scene included Melissa Fitzgerald, Michael Coppens, Naji Ghorayeb, Bonnie Chang, Stacy Robinson-Newton, Kelser McMiller, Jonathan Cohen, Adam Van Doren, Brooke McFadden and Sharon Lott.
