Born in Queens, New York, Ibsen Espada grew up in Puerto Rico and received his BFA from the University of The Sacred Heart before making Houston his home in 1975. Having studied under Ronaldo Lopez Dirube while in Puerto Rico, he also studied under his mentor Dorothy Hood in Houston while at the Glassell, and the influence of both great artists is still subtly seen in his work today resulting in an an incredible career.

After receiving his BA in Fine Arts from the University of St. Thomas, Mike Hollis built a well-respected and much admired reputation as a favorite among Houston artists. Merging West Coast concepts with geometric abstraction, Hollis has created an easily recognizable body of work that is both cerebral and emotive. He creates his paintings utilizing various methods, blending various painting techniques with new technology.

On view through Oct. 4.
