Writespace Workshop: "Writing in the Natural World" with Elizabeth White-Olsen and Glenn Olsen

eventdetail

Artists paint en plein air, or, "in the open air," so why don't more writers write outdoors?

This workshop begins by enjoying examples of nature writing by poets and essayists such as Mary Oliver, Wendell Berry and John Graves. Guests will then explore Bear Creek Park with naturalist Glenn Olsen, who will talk about local birds, trees and wildflowers. Afterward, newly armed with knowledge and inspiration, participants will write nature-inspired prompts and exercises.

Please bring a journal and dress in layers for comfort in the outdoors. Bring a camera, binoculars or a folding chair or picnic blanket. Those who enjoy drawing are welcome to draw natural scenes.
