The Space City Slam Series is the largest youth poetry slam competition in Texas. Presented by Writers in the Schools, the slam consists of two semi-final rounds and a Grand Slam.
During the competition, 12 Houston area-poets, rappers, and writers ages 13-19 will have the opportunity to perform in front of guest judges with the hopes of being chosen as members of the 2017 Houston Meta-Four team.
This event will feature a guest judging panel including community leaders such as Houston First Daughter Ashley Turner, HISD Board Member Anne Sung, and DJs from 97.9 The Box.
Semi-final rounds take place at MECA, and Grand Slam takes place at Discovery Green.
