The highlight of the event will take place when Houston Ballet Amy Fote as the Sugar Plum Fairy lights the Wortham Theater Center's 25-foot Christmas tree, illuminated with 8,000 sparkling lights. Mayor Annise Parker will be the distinguished speaker for the event. KUHF's Elaine Kennedy will host the event.

Other festivities include visits by characters from The Nutcracker and live holiday music by local bands and choirs. Houston Grand Opera's HGOco and the Salvation Army Harbor Light Choir will provide lively entertainment. Delicious eats and drinks will also be available, as well as the chance for children to have their picture taken with Santa Claus.
