Every year approximately 80,000 refugees from all over the world come to the United States through the federally funded U.S. Refugee Admissions Program and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services' Office of Refugee Resettlement. These refugees are forced to leave their homes because of violence or fear of persecution due to their race, religion, nationality, social standing or political opinions.
