Rosewater is a film written and directed by The Daily Show's Jon Stewart, based on Maziar Bahari's memoir, Then They Came for Me. The movie recounts Bahari's return to Iran, where he covers the 2009 presidential elections and its ensuing riots for Newsweek. Falsely accused of espionage, he is arrested and turned over to "Rosewater," a brutal interrogator who subjects the innocent reporter to months of beatings and torture to force him to confess to being a spy.

Rosewater is a tale of a man clinging to hope for his future with memories from his past.

Maziar Bahari is an Iranian-Canadian journalist and filmmaker.
