The Women's Resource of Greater Houston's 22nd Annual Luncheon featuring Gloria Steinem

eventdetail

Gloria Steinem, a seminal figure in the women's liberation movement in the '60s and '70s, will be the featured speaker at The Women's Resource of Greater Houston's 22nd Annual Luncheon.

Steinem returns to Houston, a city that's a landmark in the history of the feminist movement. In the essay "Houston and History" from her book Outrageous Acts and Everyday Rebellions, she write: "For myself, Houston and all the events surrounding it have become a landmark in personal history ... Figuring out the date of any other event now means remembering: Was it before or after Houston?"

Steinem will discuss the progression of feminism and advancing the rights of all women. Her talk will be followed by an audience Q&A.

Proceeds from the event benefit the nonprofit's free education and research programs that support women's financial literacy.
