Urban Souls' Fourth Annual Black History Month Concert "Exodus: Liberia"

eventdetail

Created by artistic director Harrison Guy, Exodus highlights the mass migration of African Americans from South Carolina to Liberia in 1878. This work speaks to the idea of people of color having a soul deep connection to Africa.

Another work presented that evening by Harrison Guy will be Facing the Rising Sun: The Man, the Minister, the Movement. This retrospective focuses on Rev. Bill Lawson's journey to communal leadership. Facing the Rising Sun will be accompanied by live music by the Texas Southern University's Choir, under the direction of Roy Belfield Jr.
