Urban Harvest, a nonprofit organization that leads Houston’s local food movement, will host “Sunday Supper at Sparrow,” a farm-to-fork fundraising dinner, in partnership with chef Monica Pope. This event will offer a bountiful spread of dishes that bespeaks Urban Harvest’s principles of encouraging community, good nutrition and sustainability through organic gardening. Using seasonal ingredients sourced from local farms such as Tejas Heritage Farms, Plant it Forward Farms, and Sustainable Harvesters, a group of Houston’s notable chefs who support Urban Harvest’s philosophy have pledged to impress guests with sophisticated combinations that highlight and enhance the ingredients’ natural flavors.

In addition to Pope, contributing chefs include Justin Yu of Oxheart, Randy Rucker of Bramble, Adam Doris of Pax Americana, Mark Decker of Down House, Soren Pedersen of Currant Kitchen, Ara Malekian of Harlem Road Texas BBQ, and Dylan Murray of Benjy’s and Local Foods.

Urban Harvest’s Youth Education Program, the beneficiary of the event, explores healthy nutrition, food systems, native habitats and ecosystems through activities implemented in Houston-area schools and community centers.
