Urban Harvest
This is a two-part series class about that explores the elements of permaculture.
In the first class (Sept. 29), the design principles of permaculture are explained, observed and illustrated. This garden is set up with cisterns, many types of fruits, vegetables, habitat plants, a small area for collecting excess rain and a remodeled home that includes many features to reduce energy consumption.
The second class (Oct. 6), held at the University of Houston, will further explore principles demonstrated in the previous class and begin the design of a home site that connects and integrates food with housing and nature. The first class is a pre-requisite for this second and all other permaculture sessions.
