The class focuses on the design of family gardens. The instructor will survey the permaculture of vegetables, fruits, domestic animals and the factors used to place these for maximum productivity and minimum labor. Later in the course, participants will learn some basic gardening skills along with how to design and build a garden. Water, soil, pest management, garden ecology, and climate are also explored.
"Designing Bountiful Gardens" is one of five modules and is open to anyone who has completed the prerequisite classes of Sustainable Living parts one and two. This module is over six Sundays. Class 1-4 will take place at University of Houston and class 5 and 6 will take place at Animal Farm Permaculture Center.
Price for the series includes materials and catered lunches at Animal Farm. Bring a lunch to the other classes.
