Join the University of Houston Cynthia Woods Mitchell Center for the Arts, in collaboration with Buffalo Bayou Partnership and Musiqa, for a free interactive holiday event titled "Unsilent Night."
New York composer Phil Kline created a 43-minute piece written specifically to be heard outdoors in the month of December. It takes the form of a street promenade in which the audience becomes the performer. Each participant gets one of four tracks of music that can easily be downloaded on his or her smart phone (you will download the app once you arrive).
When participants play their different "parts" simultaneously, it helps create the special sound of the piece. Revelers will walk a carefully chosen route along Buffalo Bayou's Sabine Promenade outfitted with holiday stations filled with cookies and hot chocolate.
Prior to the musical parade, there will be tasty treats available for purchase. Saint Arnold Brewing Co. will serve up some tasty local brew and root beer. Santa will also make an appearance.
