The 25th Annual Virtual Sprint for Life Run/Walk for ovarian cancer will be raising awareness and funds for ovarian cancer research since 1998, and is hosted by The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center Department of Gynecologic Oncology and Reproductive Medicine. Everyone may participate from anywhere on the planet.
This event is important because there will be nearly 20,000 new ovarian cancer diagnoses this year in the U.S. Many patients respond well to treatments such as surgery and chemotherapy after they are diagnosed - but recurrent ovarian cancer often becomes resistant to chemotherapy. Each year, Sprint for Life funds research grants through the Blanton-Davis Ovarian Cancer Research Program that seek to find new ways to treat ovarian cancer.
