University Museum at Texas Southern opening reception: Cull by Monica Vidal

Cull is a solo exhibition of works by Houston artist Monica Vidal that includes large-scale sculptures, gouache paintings, prints and drawings. Cull will feature a new hive titled Burning, which is based on a traditional quilt pattern called the Starburst that is integrated into a three-dimensional form of linked hexagons.

Viewers will walk through the forms and be immersed in a vast assortment of colors and patterns. On view through Sept. 28.
