The 2014 BFA Candidates from the University of Houston's Photography Digital Media Program host a collective senior show, "Components for an Explosive Atomic Device," organized by University of Houston adjunct professor Ariane Roesch and Contemporary Arts Museum Houston curatorial associate Nancy O'Connor.
Eighteen emerging artists will be featured in the show, including Joshua Pinson, Maria Jose Garcia Estevez, Vincent Nguyen, Gloria Cervantes, Lisa Ramirez, Myesha Callahan, Crystal Martinez, Trish Stillwell, Maggie McCartney, Brittany Long, Krista Davenport, Brett Burleson, Cuong Truong, Alexis Scott, Laura Greivenkamp, Catherine Rogers, Jameela Al Amin and Kahiah Polidore.
These artists have worked and grown together for the past year and a half in order to create these bodies of work, many of which explore social and political questions, as well as inquiries into the human experience. For the majority of these artists, this journey has also included an exploration of videography, performance and sculpture, as well as still photography.
The show is on view from March 15 through April 19.
