Playing its first game since its lost Heisman Trophy candidate quarterback Case Keenum (and his backup) for the season, the University of Houston (2-1) takes on a Tulane team (1-1) that isn't expected to be a Conference USA title contender. True freshman quarterback Terrence Broadway will make his first career college start for the Cougars.
While not nearly the passer that Keenum is, Broadway does bring a running dimension to Houston's attack that could catch the Green Wave off guard. It's important for the Cougars — a team that dropped out of the Top 25 and far from the national spotlight with last Saturday's 31-13 loss to a UCLA team they were favored to beat — to not only win, but to look impressive against Tulane. This game centers on recreating the hope and optimism around the program and this season.
UH is hoping for its third straight home sellout in its first afternoon game of the college football year.
