CounterCurrent is a five-day festival of bold experimental art presented by the UH Cynthia Woods Mitchell Center for the Arts. Occupying a range of unexpected sites in the city of Houston, CounterCurrent includes audio and visual installation, live performance and participatory events by artists from around the world.
Collaborations with dynamic organizations and artists in the Houston community are included as well as fresh new works by University of Houston faculty and students. CounterCurrent will explore themes including language/translation, transportation/disorientation, belonging/alienation and collisions between natural and unnatural environments. Countercurrent will be punctuated with late night events and happy hours celebrating the festival’s incredible offerings.
At the kickoff party, guests will preview the full festival schedule and receive a complimentary pass plus festival giveaways while enjoying custom cocktails from Moongose vs. Cobra.
