Uganda: Common Threads

eventdetail
Houston Center for Photography

Art and fashion intersect as the Houston Center of Photography hosts a gallery exhibition of work by Jaime Collier of Casa de Camera featuring the CrOp by David Peck collection to raise money for clean water in Uganda. Collier’s photographic portrayals of humanitarian work in Uganda inspired the inaugural season of CrOp by David Peck. Peck manipulated the textures and patterns in Collier’s work into digitally printed silks and organic cottons. When Collier returned to Uganda for a follow-up visit in July 2010, she took pieces from the CrOp collection with her and photographed them on local girls in the locations where the original photos were taken that were turned into the prints

Large-scale, framed prints of Collier’s work will be sold by silent auction along with small, unframed prints that will be available for purchase. Elaine Turner Designs and CrOp by David Peck will raffle off a runway look that was shown at Audi Fashion Houston last week.

The event, from 6-9 p.m., is free and open to the public.  Live DJ provided by LG Entertainment.
