The Museum of Fine Arts, Houston will celebrate the opening day of the new exhibition, "Golden Worlds: The Portable Universe of Indigenous Colombia", the museum’s Latin American collection, and the unveiling of new sculptures by six Houston Latinx artists, who have been inspired by the Mexican folk-art tradition of alebrijes and their own cultural heritages.
A fall family festival will feature a welcome to the unveiling of six sculptures by Houston artists; music and dance performances by Danza Azteca Taxcayolotl, Reyes Ramirez, and Tintero Projects; food from Mi Tienda, Cochinita & Co., LMCKitchen, BakedHTX, Florecitas, Popston and LaPapa Chona; and art-making activities. Families can explore the museum’s galleries throughout the afternoon, with a map in both Spanish and English that highlights works of art on view by Latin American artists.
The exhibit will be on display until April 16, 2023.
