The 12th annual festival Five Funny French Films returns with a new and fresh lineup of five comedies from France.

Schedule of events

  • May 1 (7 pm): Match Made in Heaven (Anges & Cie) - Invisible, yet ever-present guardian angels protect and guide humans in secret. Paul and Léa were never meant to cross paths, but their undeniable attraction sparks a celestial crisis. Enter Raphaëlle and Gabriel: two mismatched angels tasked with stopping their romance. If they fail, Raphaëlle’s dreams of becoming an archangel would vanish, while Gabriel would face a worse fate - becoming a mortal man on Earth. Time is ticking, and the stakes have never been higher in this heavenly battle of wills.
  • May 1 (9 pm): Bald Is the New Black (Certains l’aiment chauve) - When 30-year-old Zacharie proposes to his girlfriend, she abruptly dumps him, claiming she can already see what the future holds for Zac: premature baldness. A dermatologist confirms the tragic diagnosis: Zac suffers from rapid-onset alopecia. In six months, he will be as bald as an egg. Determined to win back his girlfriend and save his hair, Zac reconnects with his uncle, who has dedicated his entire life - and fortune - to fighting his own baldness. From shock treatments to failed hacks, Zac embarks on an epic struggle against hair loss and ends up learning how to love himself.
  • May 2 (5 pm): Cycle of Time (C’était mieux demain) - In 1950s France, Hélène and Michel Dupuis lead a simple, predictable life. Hélène, a cheerful stay-at-home mom, and Michel, the proud head of the family, are content - until a freak accident with a new washing machine propels them into 2025. Now, Hélène is a powerful bank executive, while Michel struggles with unemployment and depression. As their children grow up in a world dominated by technology, their marriage and world are turned upside down. Can they adapt to this new reality and find happiness again, or will they ever return to the past?
  • May 2 (7:15 pm): Off to India (Délocalisés) - Known in France for his hard-hitting stand-up, Redouane Bougheraba makes his film debut in a lead role as a mattress-factory worker faced with relocation. The film follows the adventures of Redouane and his girlfriend, who decide to make the move with the company to India. Upon arrival, however, things are not at all what is expected, and he is determined to get his revenge ... the Indian way. Off to India offers a humorous perspective on universal issues with its blend of social comedy and culture shock.
  • May 3 (5 pm): Natacha (Almost) Air Hostess (Natacha [presque] hôstesse de l’air) - Growing up in the 1950s, Natacha dreams of being an air hostess, a profession allowing her to escape the traditional homemaker role like her mother. However, her appearance doesn’t match the chauvinistic expectations of France Atlantic Airlines, and she is instead assigned to the lost luggage desk. One day she gets an unexpected chance to fly, but before she can say “fasten your seat belts,” Natacha is unwittingly pulled into a madcap adventure tracking art thieves and forgers.
