Alta Arts presents “No Place Like Home,” a photography exhibition featuring the works of University of Houston students Claudia Chicas, JP Perez, Ylei Gachupin, Alfonso Ochoa, Dranat Vazquez, Ali Khoja, Lucy Carranza, Brandon Stelly, Natasha Jordan, Hailey Lassiter, Jasmine Cogan, Hanna Oliva, and Carolina Yáñez. The exhibition is curated by Sebastien Boncy.
The title was chosen due to the artists' connection with what they consider to be “home.” All of their work analyzes some aspects of home ranging from childhood memories to cultural and religious upbringing, and even the change in the environment due to climate change. Some represent a sense of home through their connection with their body, analyze their upbringing in society, and delve into subconscious and emotional states.
Following the opening reception, the exhibit will be on display until April 29.
