These two regions are connected by the significance of rivers, the River Loire and the River Rhone, which run through the heart of each region. The River Loire travels through four regions in the Loire Valley. The class will discuss what binds these subregions and what's different about them. Guests will taste four of the different grape varieties famous from this region, including Sauvignon Blanc, Chenin Blanc, Melon de Bourgogne and Cabernet Franc.

The River Rhone connects the two very different parts of the Rhone Valley. Participants will look at the Syrah-based Northern Rhone wines and discuss some of the famous villages, such as Cote Rotie and Hermitage. The class will then travel to the expansive Southern Rhone and Chateau-neuf-du-Pape, Cotes du Rhone, Tavel and Gigondas.
