More than 100 gifted musicians from around the world are showcased in a free concert. In conjunction with the Immanuel and Helen Olshan Texas Music Festival, an intensive four-week study program at the University of Houston's Moores School of Music, the Texas Music Festival Orchestra takes the stage at the Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion under the direction of Horst Förster.
These young artists will perform Richard Strauss' Don Juan and Tchaikovsky's Symphony No. 5. The finalists and winner of the Cynthia Woods Mitchell Young Artist Competition will be announced.
The Pavilion Talk, a free pre-performance discussion led by noted music scholar Ira J. Black, provides insight into the evening's program. Pavilion Talk takes place from 7:15-7:45 p.m. Other pre-concert activities in the North Plaza begin at 7 p.m.
