The Texas Medical Center Orchestra presents Dream of America, which will feature the Houston premiere of the popular and relevant piece: Ellis Island: The Dream of America. Ellis Island celebrates the historic American immigrant experience by highlighting seven immigrants' stories, dramatically interpreted by young actors from Houston's Emery/Weiner School. In addition, at Miller Outdoor Theatre, the TMCO will be joined by internationally renowned artists from the Mitsi Dancing School, which is owned and directed by Chinese immigrants Jia Ma and Teng Fei.
At these concerts, TMCO will promote the Alliance for Multicultural Community Services, Amaanah Refugee Services, and the Mexican Institute of Greater Houston. The concerts are generously underwritten by Texas Children’s Hospital and supported in part by the City of Houston through the Miller Outdoor Theatre Advisory Board.
The November 3 concert will be held at Hobby Center - Zilkha Hall, while the November 9 concert will be held at Miller Outdoor Theatre.
