The Texas Medical Center Orchestra will perform the Houston premiere of Grammy nominated American composer Peter Boyer's Symphony No. 1. The premiere is part of the orchestra's annual fall concert, titled "American Treasures," which celebrates 100 years of American classical music, from Gershwin's first composition in 1915 to Peter Boyer's contemporary works.
The performance also features Leonard Bernstein's Candide Overture and Aaron Copland's Appalachian Spring suite for full orchestra. Richard Marshall, doctoral student at Rice University's Shepherd School of Music, will perform George Gershwin's Piano Concerto in F.
