In the first concert of the Texas Medical Center Orchestra's 2022-2023 season, they will focus on "The Power of the Human Spirit" to experience emotions and survive even the toughest moments in life.

Dvorak's Carnival is part of a trilogy of overtures - this one is the second - "Life" symbolizing joy. When you hear a joyful melody, it can transport you to a happier place and elevate your mood. Schumann suffered from mental illness, yet his 3rd symphony radiates joy. When one focuses on joy, their spirits benefit from the positive thought, and those who wish can tap into this emotion, even while they are deeply depressed.

Pieces include Dvorak's Carnival Overture Op. 92, Elgar's Cello Concerto in E Minor Op. 85 featuring Brinton Smith on cello, and Schumman's Symphony No. 3 in E Flat Major.
