Museum of Fine Arts, Houston
Bayou Bend hosts an afternoon that celebrates art created by and for children in an effort to forge a connection to Texas and American heritage. Families are invited to partake in art-making workshops, play interactive games and witness demonstrations that emphasize the way that art has kept civilization connected to the past, how it improves the present and why preserving it is important for the future.
Activities include a landscape watercolor workshop led by Artist Boat, a Galveston-based art collective; metal forging demonstrations by local blacksmiths; hands-on printmaking and jewelry creation projects; demonstrations by artisans from the Gulf Coast Woodturners Association; a collaborative art project; an appearance by the Quilt Guild of Greater Houston; and an artist working at a pottery wheel.
Eric Ladau of KUHF/KUHA will provide music outside on the Diana Terrace. The first floor of the main house will be open for tours.
