Suchu Dance kicks off the season with the premiere of Roucoulement, a new evening-length work for eight dancers with choreography by Jennifer Wood. Roucoulement features innovative movement, diverse soundscapes and an intimate perspective afforded by the space. The word roucoulement means cooing, the sound that doves make. The title was inspired by a headline from an advertisement for a hunter's dove whistle that imitates a dove's call, enticing the birds to come within gunshot range.

The work is set on a cluttered stage with a sofa and other objects that imply a living room. Suchu Dance strived to be as low-tech as possible while still creating a magical backdrop for the performance to unfold.

The performers include Shanon Adams, Ashley Horn, Sarah Leung, Leo Munoz, Tina Shariffskul, Alex Soares, Prudence Sun and Lindsey Thompson.
