Runners and walkers will assemble outside JCPenney at Memorial City Mall to take part in the Spring Branch Education Foundation's 21st annual "Running for the Arts."
Proceeds from the 5K Run/Walk and related activities will support the foundation's Arts Partners program, which provides cultural arts field trips for kids in grades 1 through 9. The SBISD's Health Fitness Association will also receive funding to award scholarships to students and teachers.
Race packets can be picked up at Memorial City Mall in the Food Court area on May 1 (11 a.m.-7 p.m.), May 2 (11 a.m.-7 p.m.) and May 3 (11 a.m.-4 p.m.) There will be no packet pick up or late registration on race day. Those who want to support the event without running or walking can register for the Saturday Sleep-In instead (the fee is $75 by April 30 or $80 at packet pick up and includes four t-shirts).
This year's event t-shirt and poster design was created by Alexis Hyde, a seventh grader at Spring Forest Middle School.
