The Silk Road Ensemble is named after the great trade route that connected China and the Mediterranean. The ancient route provided a way for countries to share in each other's cultures. This ensemble has similar goals. Composed of musicians and storytellers from more than 20 countries, the group highlights the beauty of their own musical culture and blends their sounds. Acclaimed cellist Yo-Yo Ma  leads the group.
