Recognized as the leader of the Afro-Cuban sound, with their roots planted firmly in the rumba tradition, the Pedrito Martinez Group revels in the bata rhythms and vocal chants of Yoruban and Saterian music. Members of the group include Jhair Sala from Lima, Peru; electric bassist Alvaro Benavides from Caracas, Venezuela; and keyboard player and vocalist Araicne Trijillo from Havana, Cuba.

Born in Havana, Pedro "Pedrito" Martinez began his career at 11 years of age, performing with such Cuban legends as Tata Guines and Munequitos de Matanzas.

This is a ticketed event for the covered seating area. Free tickets are available (four per person over age 16, while they last) at the Miller Outdoor Theatre box office the day of the performance between 10:30 a.m.-1 p.m. If tickets remain at 1 p.m., the box office will re-open one hour before show time to distribute the remaining tickets.
