Dubbed "The First Lady of Song," Ella Fitzgerald was the most popular female jazz singer in the U.S. for more than half a century. This special tribute program will present many of her original big band arrangements performed by the Smithsonian Jazz Masterworks Orchestra and featuring international vocalist Delores King Williams.

The repertoire centers on a special moment in American history by pulling original arrangements done for Ella in the 1940-1950s from the Smithsonian and Ella Fitzgerald Charitable Foundation archives, arrangements not heard by live audiences in more than 40 years.

This is a ticketed event for the covered seating area. Free tickets are available (four per person over age 16 while they last) at the Miller Outdoor Theatre box office the day of the performance between the hours of 10:30 a.m.-1 p.m. If tickets remain at 1 p.m., the box office will reopen one hour before show time to distribute the remaining tickets.
