The Silos at Sawyer Yards presents "Fired Up: Sculpture from the Silos" opening day

“Fired Up: Sculpture from the Silos” will feature new work in clay and mixed media by Houston artists Mary Aldrich, Tanna Bennett, Vivian Pastor and Damon Thomas.

  • Aldrich will present a series of sculptures inspired by Edouard Manet’s painting, “Olympia.”
  • Bennett’s installation will explore the way in which humans work for and against nature and the environment.
  • Pastor’s work investigates the plight of the honeybee and the vital role it plays in sustaining nature.
  • Thomas combines handmade clay figures with found industrial relics to create artworks that explore the emotional range of the human condition.
Following the opening reception, the exhibit will be on display through December 27.
