"Tensile Strength" is the second exhibition by Sculpture Month Houston. After the success of the inaugural exhibition in 2016, in which SITE Gallery was the flagship venue out of 43 venues throughout the city, where the works of Houston-based artists were predominantly showcased, Sculpture Month Houston has expanded its artist base by inviting artists from neighboring cities and states. They will magnify the Sculpture Month Houston festival in 2018 by opening it back up to the City of Houston with all its amazing venues.

The massive silos, paired with the stamina and resilience of the artists wrestling with the sculptural medium, make for an exciting environment for visitors. The unique, maze-like architecture of the original rice silos has been converted into individual art spaces; its soaring towers and raw industrial patina have intrigued the 20 participating artists to respond to this challenging space with works of great ambition and range. The 2017 exhibition is scaled down to focus on the silos and SITE Gallery as its only venue.

Following the opening day, the exhibit will be on display through December 2.
