Each year, Scenic Houston recognizes and celebrates a community leader who plays a vital role in improving Houston’s appearance and image during its annual fundraiser. This year, John Breeding, President and CEO of the Uptown Houston District, will be presented with the 2020 Scenic Visionary during the online, virtual celebration.
As part of the virtual celebration, the program will feature a conversation with acclaimed urban planner, educator and author, Alexander Garvin. Mr. Garvin, the President & CEO of AGA Public Realm Strategist, is also an adjunct professor at Yale University and has written numerous books on architecture and urbanism. His latest book, The Heart of a City, focuses on how important downtown areas are to thriving cities. Mr. Garvin has been watching the progress in Uptown Houston for 30 years and has likened Post Oak Boulevard to some of the most famous thoroughfares in the world.
