Sawyer Yards and TANK Space at Spring Street Studios presents "Enter Me," an installation by Houston-based artist Loren Siems.
"Enter Me" speaks to the female experience and healing. This state, country and world has been in disarray these past few years, and these works create a safe environment that evokes a sense of reflection, compassion, understanding, and rebirth/new growth.
The installation is a space created by a woman with gendered symbols such as a door framed interior room painting, "Enter Me", and large-scale bunny tent-like sculpture, Big Bunny. "Enter Me" presents memories and traumas from growing up; old wounds stitched up to heal and create a better self. Big Bunny evokes a child’s blanket fort and an object of comfort that takes on feminine emotive states. Healing and growth is a way to move forward with a sense of reflection, respect for the past, and minds for changing/improving the future.
Following the opening reception, the exhibit will be on display until May 27.
