"Sargent and the Sea," "Houston's Sargents," and "Prendergast in Italy" open at MFAH

Three new exhibitions will open Valentine's Day at the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston: "Sargent and the Sea," "Houston's Sargents" and "Pendergrast in Italy."

The "Sargent and the Sea" exhibit will feature more than 80 paitings, watercolors and drawings of seascapes and coastal scenes from John Singer Sargent. This is the exhibit's final stop before the exibit travels to London. "Houston's Sargents" is a complementary show featuring Sargent paintings from private Houston collections.

"Pendergrast in Italy" will be the first exhibition devoted entirely to works by American modern artist Maurice Pendergrast. The exhibit also includes the artist's personal sketchbooks, travel guides, letters and photographs and features more than 60 views of Venice, Rome, Siena and Capri.
