Samara Gallery will present Sonidos Virtuales by Mariana Copello, an exhibition of sculptures in geometric, post-modern abstraction. Copello’s work arose from the image of the piano in which the appearance of keys rhythmically alternating between light and dark strikes the viewer even before the instrument is played. From that image, Copello developed the concept of asymmetrical segments sporadically jolting up and down, and geometric objects tumbling in and out of walls or mid-air. The shifted bars of color leave behind a negative space, adding lightness and mystery to how these pieces remain suspended in the space. Each work aligns into a musical movement echoing an imaginary musical pentagram and each bright color radiates visual vibrations of the melodic rhythms.
Following the opening reception, the exhibit will be on display through May 21.
