- 5 p.m. -- Reception on the Plaza
- 5:30 p.m. -- Ceremony welcoming the return of Barnett Newman’s Broken Obelisk
- 6 p.m. -- Reception continues
- 7 p.m. -- The Fierce Urgency of Now, lecture by Leonard Pitts, Jr.
The reception will include original performances by Writers in the Schools (WITS) young local poets Jackson Neal, a member of the 2016 Meta-four Houston Youth Poetry Slam Team, and Fareena Arefeen, the City of Houston's second Youth Poet Laureate.
There will also be appearances by public officials, including Congresswoman Shelia Jackson.
