Archbishop of San Salvador Óscar Romero's life embodied working for justice to achieve peace. He called such work the violence of love, stating, "Peace is not the product of terror or fear. Peace is not the silence of cemeteries. Peace is not the silent result of violent repression. Peace is the generous, tranquil contribution of all to the good of all. Peace is dynamism. Peace is generosity. It is right and it is duty."
Noted human rights advocate Julian Filochowski discusses Romero's work and legacy to achieve peace through revolutionary love. Filochowski is the chair of the Archbishop Romero Trust and former director of Catholic Agency for Overseas Development, in addition to working for human rights and development in Latin America.
A reception on the plaza follows the program.
