Drawing influences from hip-hop artists Nas and Notorious B.I.G., Pitbull tried his hand at rapping at a young age. In 2002, he was featured on Lil John and the East Side Boyz' Kings of Crunk album, which helped raise his profile in the music world significantly. He released his debut album M.I.A.M.I. in 2004, peaking at No. 11 on the Hot Rap Tracks chart. Following this early success, Pitbull became a wanted collaborator for other hip-hop artists, such as Ying Yang Twins and Wyclef Jean.
