The rights, equality, and respect of women are the focus of Rise Up, a dramatic and alluring program featuring two world premiere ROCO commissions written by two male composers who champion equality in their work.

Richard Danielpour’s ROCO commission, inspired by the current women’s uprising in Iran and his own mother, an Iranian sculpturist, was written specifically for the women musicians of ROCO. The second work, a rescoring of Quinn Mason’s 19th Amendment, features the first collaboration of the season with women dancers from Houston Contemporary Dance Company.
