Rienzi presents From Peasant to Artisan: The Rise of Mezcal and Oaxacan Cuisine

Rienzi is partnering with notable Houston chef Hugo Ortega (H Town Restaurant Group: Xochi, Hugo’s, Caracol, Backstreet Cafe) for From Peasant to Artisan: The Rise of Mezcal and Oaxacan Cuisine, a historically-inspired dinner that celebrates the complex flavors of Oaxaca, built around the world’s most complex spirit, mezcal.

The James Beard Award-winning chef has spent years studying and exploring the heirloom ingredients and unique flavors of Oaxaca. He brings his modern vision of this cuisine to Rienzi, along with mezcal and mezcal cocktail pairings by Sean Beck, sommelier/beverage director for H Town Restaurant Group. Guests will enjoy a spectacular night of libations and dishes that bring the history and terroir of mezcal - Mexico’s original agave spirit - to the forefront.
